Rodrygo scores twice as Real Madrid defeats Sevilla.
Rayo Vallecano.Spain’s Seville (AFP) – Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 2-1 on Saturday
in La Liga, with Rodrygo scoring twice to put his team four points ahead of Atletico Madrid in third place.
Vinicius Junior, a Madrid winger who received international
backing this week after being subjected to racial abuse from
Valencia supporters last weekend, was out due to injury.
Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio, an injured attack pair, were both absent for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Madrid’s sole healthy regular starting forward was Rodrygo.
Rafa Mir gave the Europa League champions, who will
take on Roma on Wednesday, the lead, but Rodrygo made
the most of his opportunity by scoring twice, the first coming off a free kick.
It’s difficult to decide. The second goal may have been slightly
nicer than the first, but scoring from a free-kick is always spectacular, said Rodrygo to DAZN.
“We always practice them and talk about it before, whoever is most confident takes it and I took the ball.”
With ten minutes left, Ancelotti substituted Rodrygo.
I was a little irritated with him since I wanted to get a hat-trick,
but it’s all, he assured me that the way things were going, we will win.
To prepare for the final against Jose Mourinho’s team, Sevilla coach
Jose Luis Mendilibar rotated many of his regular starting players at a soggy Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium.
After Bryan Gil’s shot was stopped in the third minute, Mir pounced on the rebound and hammered it into the roof of the net to give Sevilla the lead.
After excellent set-up work from Dani Ceballos and Lucas Vazquez,
Rodrygo should have equalized but missed the mark with a well-placed shot.
The Brazilian quickly equalized Real Madrid from a free kick though, misfiring his shot past the goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and into the bottom corner.
Before Rodrygo scored his second goal, Mir again came near early
in the second half with a shot that went just wide.
The Brazilian forward was set free by Toni Kroos and blasted Sevilla defender Gonzalo Montiel in two different directions before sliding the ball home past Bounou.
The Brazilian has nine league goals this year, steadily developing into one of Ancelotti’s most dependable players.
According to Ancelotti, “Rodrygo stood out as the centre-forward; he can play there.”
Although he has unique qualities, scoring inside the box is simpler than outside of it because to his dribbles.
Sevilla’s Marcos Acuna was sent in the closing moments for a crude
tackle on Ceballos, giving his team little hope of mounting a comeback.
The players argued a few times during the nine minutes of stoppage time after the red card heated up the previously calm game, but Los Blancos eventually managed to secure their victory.
Vinicius was racially assaulted during Madrid’s most recent road match against Valencia at Mestalla.
After the game ended without any incidents, Ancelotti praised the Sevilla supporters.
“The environment changed. Today was encouraging, according to Ancelotti.
“People are becoming more aware of what is permitted and prohibited at stadiums. We must keep going in this manner.
Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey earlier in May, but after Manchester
city eliminated them from the Champions League, their season took a turn for the worse. Barcelona, however, won La Liga for the first time since 2019.
However, Real should finish ahead of Atletico, who will visit Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Sevilla had a terrible start to the season, but Mendilibar has turned
things around after the team fired coaches Julen Lopetegui and Jorge Sampaoli.
Sevilla has moved up to 10th, out of the relegation zone, and into the
Europa League final under the guidance of the Spaniard.
We’ve demonstrated that we are a family, Mir said DAZN. “The last quarter of the season has been spectacular, but we’ve had some very bad moments.”
We want to return with the trophy now that we have won the championship.
Rodrygo scores twice as Real Madrid defeats Sevilla.
In a LaLiga game on Saturday against Sevilla, Rodrygo scored twice to give Real Madrid a 2-1 victory. Vincius Jnior, a fellow Brazilian, was absent due to the international outcry over the racial insults he has received.
Due to a knee ailment, which according to coach Carlo Ancelotti
prevented Vinicius from playing against Rayo Vallecano throughout the week, he did not travel with the club. His departure from the field is being met with a major uproar in his native Brazil following the racial taunts he endured from spectators at Valencia last weekend.

Additionally sidelined due to injury were attacker Marco Asensio and midfielder Karim Benzema.
The only forward in Madrid’s starting lineup along with five midfielders, 22-year-old Rodrygo fared quite fine on his own.
After missing a clear chance to score early on, Rodrygo expressed
some displeasure with Ancelotti for switching him out for the defender Nacho with 20 minutes remaining in the game to help preserve the lead.
Rodrygo remarked, “I wanted a hat trick, but the coach felt that was enough.
When asked about his player’s motivation to continue playing, Ancelotti responded, “He wanted to score, I wanted the victory. We shared many hobbies. However, the team is always the most crucial factor.
Prior to Wednesday’s Europa League final against AS Roma
in Budapest, Sevilla coach José Mendilibar, who has improved the
club since taking over two months ago, rested some of his star players, including attacker Youssef En-Nesyri. Sevilla will strive to capture a record-extending seventh Europa League championship.
Bryan Gil’s first shot, which hit a Madrid defender and fell to the
striker in the box, was finished by Rafa Mir to give the hosts the lead in the third minute.
With a free kick that he fired around the side of the defensive wall and
past goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Rodrygo equalized in the 29th minute.
In the 36th minute, Érik Lamela nearly gave Sevilla the lead back when he hit the post
After receiving a pass from Toni Kroos on a counterattack, Rodrygo
scored his second goal in the 69th minute by gliding past defender Gonzalo Montiel and beating Bounou.
Bryan Gil’s original shot, which struck a Madrid defender and fell to the
striker in the box, was finished by Rafa Mir to give the hosts a third-quarter lead.
Marcos Ocua of Sevilla received a direct red card in the 84th minute for a studs-first challenge on Dani Ceballos.
With one game remaining, the victory put Madrid in second position and Sevilla in tenth. Three rounds ago, Barcelona clinched the championship.
Seven teams are fighting for relegation, and the other nine games in
this penultimate round will be played concurrently on Sunday.
